The DeliriansThe Delirians are the young lions of a resurgent Southern California reggae & ska scene. Their untamed East LA sound hypnotically transports audiences from Kingston, Jamaica to the southland’s barrios and ghettos. The Delirians are raw energy, joy, and exuberance.

Launched in its current form in 2007, the band’s origins can be traced back even further to the rough & tough streets of East LA. A group of teen punk rockers met while in the marching band programs at Garfield and Roosevelt High Schools where they formed the Drunk Skunks, a punk-ska ensemble. The band transformed into Ultima Caida, which played a slightly less aggressive ska-core.

Over the last few years, The Delirians have recorded several critically-acclaimed singles and an EP. They’ve backed legends such as The Jamaicans, Pat Kelly, and Derrick Morgan. They’ve also shared the bill with Jimmy Cliff, Toots & The Maytals, Inner Circle, and the Skatalites.

The nucleus of the band is vocalist and rhythm guitarist Angel Salgado, whose crooning style conjures up memories of East Side legends such as Little Willie G and Ralfi Pagan. Bassist Eric Crucial is a sublimely talented multi-instrumentalist who is as comfortable with reggae’s rollicking bass lines as he is with slap funk grooves. Keyboardist Anthony Medina is an organ whiz who performs like a reincarnated Jackie Mittoo, King of the Roots Keyboard, and swings soul-heavy rocksteady along with gospel-driven Memphis Soul. The group is augmented by drummer Eric Alvarez, and Jose Covarrubias and their cool edge and amazing ability to capture and reconstruct ska and reggae music.

Together they raise a ruckus at backyard boogies to open-air summer festivals and concert halls. They’re quite simply the most exciting band on the scene today. The band is currently recording a new single and album for Angel City Records to be released in early 2016.
